Black Literature: A Device for Equitable Change


Join the Center for Black Literature as we feature two dynamic speakers,Majora Carter, author of RECLAIMING YOUR COMMUNITY: You Don't Have to Move Out of Your Neighborhood to Live in a Better One, real estate developer, urban revitalization strategy consultant, and MacArthur Fellow; in conversation with Dr. Rachel Laryea, author of Black Capitalists, who will offer critical insight into the struggle for civil and human rights, using literature to confront obstacles, illuminate injustice, and inspire change while sustaining and strengthening us through challenging times. The discussion is moderated by Shelagh Patterson, poet, scholar, and educator, English & World Languages Professor at Medgar Evers College of The City University of New York.
