Lawrence Hill is the Commonwealth Award-winning author of Someone Knows My Name, republished as the Book of Negroes and subject of the BET Television Mini-series. Published in the USA by WW Norton & Co., The Illegal is Hill’s fourth novel and his tenth book. He was awarded the Diamond Jubilee Medal from Queen Elizabeth, II. He has received five Honorary Doctorates; and in 2015, “The Order of Canada”. He is an award-winning journalist with an MA degree in Writing from The Johns Hopkins University.

The Illegal is about an elite marathoner who flees violence in his homeland to take up residence as a stateless man in a country entirely hostile to refugees. Soon, the would-be Olympian is running for his life…
